The latte macchiato or cappuccino is not warm enough
Check the standard settings in the main menu. The temperature for coffee should be set at high. You can also reduce the amount of milk or set it to zero thereby increasing the amount of frothed milk. Frothed milk is usually hotter, so your drink with these settings should reach the desired temperature.

How much coffee is ground for each level of coffee strength?
For the Caffeo® CI® the following amounts of coffee are ground for each coffee strength. approx.:

1 bean -> 7g
2 beans -> 9g
3 beans -> 11g
4 beans -> 13g

How do I change the standard settings on my Caffeo® CI®?
Select 'My Coffee' - settings from the menu. Confirm the sub setting 'standard' with the rotary switch. Here you can change all standard settings individually according to taste.

Why is no frothed milk being made? Why is milk not being sucked from the milk container?
a) The milk unit may be blocked with milk residues. Remove the milk unit and clean it under running water. You can also clean the milk unit with dish water. Run the 'intensive cleaning programme (cleaning programme for the milk system) following the instructions in the manual. Each time you use milk, run the quick and hygienic 'Easy Cleaning' programme by confirming 'Easy Cleaning?' in the display twice with the rotary switch. The 'Easy Cleaning' programme prevents milk residues from settling on and sticking to the milk tube and ensures that your milk unit is always hygienic.
Run the descaling programme.

b) The suction pipe on the milk container may not be correctly connected to the lid.
Check if the suction pipe is correctly connected to the lid.

c) The milk tube may not be correctly connected to the outlet or to the milk container.
Check if the milk tube is correctly connected.

How do I call up the cleaning / descaling programme?
Hold down the rotary switch for at least 3 seconds, the display will show the settings menu. Choose 'maintenance' in the menu. Now you can choose between the different programmes for descaling and cleaning

What does 'Easy Cleaning' mean?
'Easy Cleaning' is a quick and hygienic cleaning programme for the Caffeo® CI® milk system. The milk system is cleaned with hot water and then with a jet of steam. This is best done every time you use milk or frothed milk, to prevent the milk tube/milk system becoming blocked. The machine will automatically remind you to do this, you can also call up the 'Easy Cleaning' programme in the menu under 'maintenance'.

What does 'Intensive Cleaning' mean?
'Intensive Cleaning' is a cleaning programme for the Caffeo® CI® milk system. We recommend running 'Intensive Cleaning' at least once a week depending on use. The machine will automatically remind you to run the programme. To run the 'Intensive Cleaning' programme you need Melitta® PerfectCLEAN milk system cleaner. Put 50ml (one level mark) of the cleaner in the milk container and fill with 450ml warm water (up to the 0.5L level. Start the 'Intensive Cleaning' programme in the menu under 'maintenance'. Rinse the milk container thoroughly with water after cleaning.

The display shows 'insert brewing unit'.
The brewing unit may not be correctly locked. Unlock the brewing unit and then lock it into place again. If the brewing unit continues to flash, remove the brewing unit and then insert again and lock it into place.

The display indicates that I should fill the water container although it is already full
a) The water tank may not be in the correct position.
Ensure that the water tank is correctly clicked into position in the holder at the back..

b) The float which shows the water level may be stuck.
Remove the water tank, empty it then shake it to free up the float.

The symbol for the coffee chute is illuminated although the coffee chute is closed!
The magnet on the lid of the coffee chute may have come loose. Check if the magnet is in the coffee chute or the brewing unit or if it has fallen into the used coffee grounds container. When you find the magnet insert it back in the lid of the coffee chute.
You can order a new lid for the coffee chute by phoning 0571 86 1900 (calls charged at local rates).

The brewing unit will not fit back in place after being removed.
The motor might not be in the correct position. Check if the water tank is filled and if the drip tray is in place. Turn the appliance OFF and then ON again. Then simultaneously press the button for My-Coffee and the on/off button for more than 2 seconds. The motor will move into the correct position. Insert the brewing unit again and check that it is correctly locked in position.
